So good you could lie on it yourself!
Our wood pellets produce a bed that is 100% natural and made from sustainable virgin timber. Our pellets are hugely absorbent and so comfortable that after a busy day at the yard you may just want to lie down on it for a nap yourself!
How to use
Once laid, the wood pellets are super quick and easy to muck out – giving you valuable extra time to enjoy spending with your horse. Creating your bed is simple, just follow these easy steps:

Step One
Space your bags of Bioforestal out
evenly around the empty stable
floor. We recommend 8-12 bags,
depending on your stable size.

Step Two
Cut open each of the bags.
Make two incisions, one across
and one down the bag – like you
might open a jacket potato!

Step Three
Add around 4.5L of water
to each of bag – that’s roughly
half a standard bucket.

Step Four
Wait about 10 minutes
for the magic to happen –
watch your pellets expand
to more than twice their size!

Step Five
Once the pellets have finished
expanding, empty the bags
onto the stable floor.

Step Six
Spread the bedding around
the stable and prepare
as you wish, ready for your horse
to make themselves at home.

MUCKING OUT
Mucking out wood pellets couldn’t be easier…
No fuss
When you lift droppings with a pellet fork, the pellet bedding simply drops away leaving you with only what you want to remove. The bedding also absorbs moisture from the droppings, leaving less mess to seep on to your horse’s coat.
Save time
Wood pellets absorbs up to three times more fluid than other bedding products, meaning wet needs removing far less frequently. When you do need to remove wet patches, it is quick and easy, with less smell.
Less waste
With less bedding waste coming out of the stable each day, your muck heap will be much more manageable. You will also find a lot more space in the wheelbarrow, ideal if you are mucking out multiple stables.
TOPPING UP THE BED
We recommend adding 2 new bags of wood pellets to your bed each week,
depending on the individual requirements of your horse. To add to your bed…
2 bags a week
You can add half a bucket of water (4.5L) to the pellets in the bag as you did when you first laid the bed, then simply add this to the existing bed.
Let the horse do the work
If your horse makes their bed quite wet, you can simply spread the new bag of pellets into the centre of the stable and they will activate themselves as you horse moves around and urinates on them.

Price comparison
Wood pellets are a great bedding choice not only for your horse, but also for your wallet. Visit the price calculator to find out how much it could save you compared to other bedding types.
When I started using Bioforestal I was instantly impressed. The bags are smaller and lighter than other bedding options, so just getting them into the stable was so much easier. They were quick to soak and I soon had a bed that was super soft and cushioned, but also very supportive - ideal for feet and joints. My horse loves lying on the bed, its is absolutely perfect for this time of year as it is nice and cool and not too deep!"
